Policies
Snack: The children are welcome to bring a snack to munch on throughout the day. We encourage that each child bring a healthy snack along with a water bottle to help keep their brains functioning. A healthy snack may include, but is not limited to; fruit, vegetables, cheese, and crackers. We discourage bringing chips, cookies, and junk food in general, as it does not have much nutritional value.
Water: Bringing water is highly recommended as it will help keep the brain hydrated. However, juices and sodas are discouraged unless needed for a medical reason.
Games/Toys: In order to provide your child with a productive learning environment, we ask that children not bring toys and games to school. Students are asked to leave all electronic devices, such as headphones and GameBoys at home. These are often a distraction and can sometimes become damaged or lost. We realize that some students like to wear their headphones on the bus, but these should be put away when they reach the campus. Additionally, items such as game cards, stuffed animals, and toys in general should not be brought to school.
Cell Phones: We realize that some students may have cell phones for emergencies during after school hours. We understand that your children’s safety is important and that your child may have a cell phone for that purpose. However, we ask that during school hours your child’s cell phone needs to be turned off, stored in their backpack, and should only be brought out when away from the school campus. Should you need to contact your child during school hours please call the classroom directly.
Dress Code: For detailed information on the Cactus Ranch dress code, please see the Student Handbook.
Just a few “polite” reminders:
· Keep in mind the length of shorts and skirts. They must be no shorter than the tips of the fingers.
· Be aware of the length of shirts, as the styles these days can be revealing of the belly.
· Spaghetti straps are prohibited and sleeveless shirts must be three fingers in width.
· Use good judgment about low cut tops and how they may reveal undergarments.
· Closed toed shoes are required on days when we have Wellness.
· Hats, caps, bandanas, or any other head covering are prohibited inside the school building
